1,800-Acre Fire Burns Near Colorado Springs

Fort Carson fire personnel are fighting a 1,800-acre fire in one of the base’s training areas that sparked Thursday night.

The perimeter of the fire, which ignited at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday, is under control, and no structures are threatened.

Three helicopters have been deployed to deliver water drops to assist on-the-ground efforts.

Due to wind, smoke may be visible in the fountain area and over Interstate 25.
