Southern Colorado just keeps getting hammered with snow and it’s not close to slowing down yet. Places like Wolf Creek are reporting huge numbers – 24 inches of powder on the Tuesday morning stake, for instance.

Between now and Friday,  OpenSnow has forecast 2-3 feet of snow on Colorado’s southern mountains. Purgatory and Wolf Creek are both showing 25+ inches in the 5-day forecast. Read their full report with a ton more detail  here.

During the same time frame, cold temperatures are expected to hover around freezing in Colorado Springs with a chance of snow. Denver will likely be a bit warmer, possibly reaching the 40s.

If you’re headed to the mountains this weekend, be aware of where there are avalanche risks. Huge amounts of snow that will likely fall will also likely to cause travel delays and additional hazards.

Avalanches have contributed to several deaths already this season, including a death that occurred on Tuesday in Telluride.
