Additional snow to blanket Colorado in upcoming days

Snow continues to fall across parts of Colorado on Tuesday morning with more powder expected to arrive this week.

Forecasters are calling for another round of fresh flakes from Wednesday through Thursday. A hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service says that the southern Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountains could see powder accumulations of 5 to 9 inches, with 2 to 5 inches of snow expected over the plains.

According to Joel Gratz of  OpenSnow, the fast-moving storm will bring fresh powder to most peaks, with the highest totals blanketing the southern mountains (Telluride, Silverton), as well as areas near and east of the Continental Divide. The next wave of snow will likely hit from Saturday into Sunday, with possible double-digit snowfall totals in the southern mountains.

Breckenridge broke records with the snowiest February on record, with powder totals of 7 feet this month and counting.

Here are a few local forecasts from around the state, according to the National Weather Service:

Silverton could see some snow on Wednesday with a 30% chance of snow showers forecasted for the afternoon. Snow will likely return again from Friday to Sunday, with temperatures ranging from the high 30s to low 20s.

Vail can expect fresh powder arriving near the end of the week, with chances for snow from Friday evening to Monday.

Crested Butte is looking at some possible powder days from Friday to Monday, with temperatures set in the 30s to 20s. Teen to single digits drop-offs are likely.

Breckenridge could see snow on Wednesday evening, with a 30% chance of showers before midnight. Snow is expected to return from Saturday to Monday.

Telluride is looking at a powder-filled week, with a 30% of chance of snow showers hitting on Wednesday after 11:00 AM. Snow will then pick up again from Friday through Monday.

Denver will see plenty of snow mid-week, with a 20% chance of snow showers for Tuesday evening and a 50% chance for Wednesday afternoon. Snow could return again with slight powder chances for Saturday and Monday.

Colorado Springs will also see snow, with a 70% chance of precipitation for Tuesday. Total daytime accumulations of 1 to 3 inches of snow are possible, with more snow on Wednesday and possibly Saturday and Monday.
