Moonlight skiing event to be held at Colorado national park

Cruise fresh powder slopes under the stars at one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders in the state of Colorado.

Join National Park Service rangers and the Gunnison Nordic Club for a moonlight Nordic ski session at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM this Saturday, February 8, 2020. Be sure to swing by the South Rim visitor center prior to chat with rangers, meet fellow skiers, and enjoy some light refreshments.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is located in western Colorado, about 15 miles from the city of Montrose. The canyon plunges as deep as 2,722 feet, rising above the Gunnison River. Here’s a look at where it’s located on the map.

Skiers and riders are also encouraged to carpool as parking is limited. Bring your own gear as this will not be provided. For more information, click here.

Please note, East Portal and North Rim Roads are currently closed for the winter season. South Rim Drive is open, but only to the visitor center.
