Airplane crashes into Colorado River

A pilot sustained only minor injuries after crashing his plane in the Colorado River on Saturday.

A 37-year-old Grand Junction man was flying from Moab, Utah, when he crashed in Knowles Canyon, near the Colorado/Utah border. His plane landed upside-down near the shore, reports Gazette news partner KKTV.

Rescue crews from four agencies responded and found the man fully conscious, with only minor injuries, KKTV reports, citing the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

The cause of the crash is unclear.
