Up to 14 inches of snow hitting parts of Colorado
Another round of winter weather is bringing mountain snow, a freezing drizzle, and gusty winds to parts of Colorado, expected to impact travel in certain regions.
Most mountains will see a fair share of snow from Friday to Saturday, with 2 to 6 fresh inches in the forecast. The highest parts of the Sangre De Cristo mountains could get up to 8 inches of fresh snow and as much as 10 inches is expected over Rabbit Ears Pass. The heaviest accumulations will come in the form of 6 to 14 inches in the eastern San Juan Mountains.
Lower elevations will see mostly rain, but areas of light freezing drizzle will be possible for a few hours Friday afternoon, mainly along the Palmer Divide and points east toward Limon and Akron.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for northeastern areas of the state including Julesburg, Ovid, Sedgwick, Amherst, Haxtun, and Holyoke in Colorado until 6:00 AM Saturday. Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches and winds gusting as high as 35 mph are expected.
Expect slick roads covered with snow and slush and with hazardous conditions along Highway 550 over Molas, Coal Bank, and Red Mountain passes.
Looking Ahead
Joel Gratz of OpenSnow says expect skies to go back to mainly dry the next few days before the next snowstorm arrives from Thursday to Friday (March 19-20).

Local Forecasts
Here are a few local forecasts from around the state, according to the National Weather Service:
Denver will see snow Friday, with little snow accumulation expected. Daytime temperatures will hang in the low 40s, with evening dips into the high 20s. Following the wintry mix, there will be several chances for rain next week.
Colorado Springs is snowy, with 2 to 4 inches of fresh flakes likely falling on Friday. Sunny skies will return Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures set in the 50s. Small chances for rain and snow will return again mid-week.
Breckenridge will see some fluff on Friday, with light snow accumulations expected. Temperatures will range from the mid-30s to upper 40s.
Vail is looking at chances for snow from Friday to Saturday with light accumulations expected. Temperatures will hang in the upper 40s for most of the week, with more chances for rain and snow.
Crested Butte is looking at back-to-back powder days from Friday to Saturday, with flakes returning from Tuesday to Wednesday.

Grand Junction is getting some rain for Friday and Saturday, with temperatures set in the upper 50s and 60s. Sunny skies will return Sunday and continue into the rest of the week.
Telluride will likely see snow falling all day to Friday to mid-Saturday. Snow showers are likely to pick up again sometime from Monday to Thursday.
Silverton will likely see snow and possibly some thunder ob Friday, with additional snow showers hitting from Saturday to Sunday. Temperatures in the 30s and possibly falling into lower teens.
If you’re headed the mountains, you may want to reconsider. Travel to the high country is being discouraged for those older than 60 due to the rapid spread of COVID-19 in Colorado. There’s also news of an outbreak spreading in the ski town of Aspen.
