Bad luck seems to follow those who steal rocks from Colorado — or at least that’s what one regretful stone holder thinks. 

Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) received a handwritten letter in the mail that claims of a stolen Colorado rock is cursed.

The letter containing the “cursed rock” sent back to the southeast region located in Colorado Springs reads, “Someone brought this home to me three years ago, bad things been happening ever since.”

The sender who returned the rock says someone had taken it from a park in Colorado and wanted to return it in hopes of being relieved from its curse of bad luck.

While it’s unknown whether or not the curse is real, legend has it, if you remove rocks from their natural outdoor spaces, you’ll bring bad luck upon yourself. 

Either way, it’s best to stop taking rocks and leave no trace when you’re out exploring.

“The best practice when visiting any park or wilderness is to take only photographs and leave only footprints,” tweeted Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
