RTD to hold community meetings for January service changes

Colorado’s Regional Transportation District (RTD) will begin public meetings next week to discuss changes to the bus and rail services taking place in January.

January’s proposed changes address a continued decrease in ridership as a result of COVID-19. RTD is currently providing about 40% less service than in January 2020 as part of a COVID-19 service plan.

The changes aim to rebalance service, suspend underperforming routes and meet the demands of the most popular routes, RTD said.

RTD has not yet announced what routes would be affected by the proposed changes.

The public meetings will be held on Oct. 7 at 6 p.m., Oct. 8 at noon, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. and Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. The Oct. 12 meeting will be in Spanish.

All four meetings will be conducted through Microsoft Teams, available to participants via a link or by calling in. Presentations about the proposed changes will be posted on the RTD website in English and Spanish.

During the meetings, RTD staff will explain the proposed service changes and take questions. Feedback will be reviewed and taken into consideration as RTD prepares the final service plan.

The public can provide input about the proposed changes through Oct. 14. In addition to the meetings, people can send feedback by emailing service.changes@rtd-denver.com, calling 303-299-2004 or faxing 303-299-2227.

RTD’s Board of Directors will take final action on the January service changes on Oct. 27. The changes will take effect on Jan. 10.

Meeting dates and times are subject to change. Updated schedule details are available at rtd-denver.com.
