Okwuegbunam injured his knee in the third quarter against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday after a 7-yard reception. Okwuegbunam was ruled out for the rest of the game minutes later and coach Vic Fangio said after the game it was unclear the severity of his injury.
Drafted in the fourth round out of Missouri, Okwuegbunam has been productive for the Broncos through eight games this season, catching 11 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. Okwuegbunam has mostly backed up Noah Fant this season, who has been battling injuries himself. Third string tight end Nick Vanett will likely fill Okwuegbunam’s role.
