Rocky Mountain National Park reopens east of Bear Lake Road after fire closure
Rocky Mountain National Park reopened all areas and trails east of Bear Lake Road on Thursday after a nearly monthlong closure over extensive damage from the East Troublesome and Cameron Peak fires.
RMNP closed completely on Oct. 22, gradually reopening in recent weeks. Around 30,000 acres, or 9% of the park, have been impacted by the fires.

The Bear Lake trail system has reopened, including the Flattop Trail to the summit of Flattop Mountain; however, the trail is closed past this point to the west of the Continental Divide.
Most areas west of Bear Lake Road also remain closed. Existing closures include Fern Lake Trail, Cub Lake Trail, Mill Creek Basin, Hollowell Park, Bierstadt Trail, North Inlet Trail, Sun Valley Trail and Moraine Park Road.

The west side of RMNP is closed past the Grand Lake Entrance.
Closed areas are continuing to be assessed by RMNP staff for fire activity, safety and downed trees.

Temporary closures on the east side of the park include Upper Beaver Meadows Road, the North Boundary Trail, the North Fork Trail, Mummy Pass, Stormy Pass, Commanche Peak and Mirror Lake Trails.
