Man wanted for murder arrested in Mesa County

A man wanted on an outstanding warrant for murder was arrested Thursday morning in unincorporated Mesa County.

Frank Kurtz, 56, and Charity Perschnacher, 37, who officials from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office have been attempting to locate since Monday, were located walking in Clifton without incident Thursday morning.

Mesa County man wanted for first-degree murder outside of Clifton home

Kurtz was arrested on an outstanding warrant for first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, while Perschnacher is being held on felony drug and weapon possession charges relating to a homicide on Jan. 21, officials said.

Authorities say deputies were dispatched to a home on White Avenue and 32 3/8 Road, near Rocky Mountain Elementary School in Clifton on Jan. 21 after a report of a shooting.

Deputies arrived at the residence and found a man who had been shot. The victim was pronounced dead despite receiving emergency medical attention.

The identity of the man has not been released.

Officials immediately identified Kurtz and Perschbacher as persons of interest in the case, which led to a week-long search.

Mesa County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Grand Junction Police Department, the Western Colorado Drug Task Force, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Colorado State Patrol, Homeland Security Investigation, and the Hollister Police Department (California) in the case.
