Mesa County man wanted for first-degree murder outside of Clifton home

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Frank Kurtz, 56, in a murder that was committed last week in Clifton, the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Kurtz is wanted for first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

Deputies said the murder happened Thursday at around 3:30 p.m. outside of a home on White Avenue and 32 3/8 Road, near Rocky Mountain Elementary School.

Deputies responded to the residence and found a man with a gunshot wound. Despite emergency medical attention, the victim died at the scene.

A search was conducted by the Grand Junction Police Department, Colorado State Patrol, Grand Junction Regional Communication Center and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control but nothing was found.

One wounded in own home following shooting in Clifton

Officials immediately identified Kurtz and Charity Perschbacher, 37, as persons of interest in the murder.

There is not a warrant for Perschbacher’s arrest, however, deputies are still trying to find her for questioning.

Kurtz is described as 5-feet-10-inches fall and 175 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and visible tattoos.

Perschbacher is described as a white woman who is 5-feet-5-inches tall and 200 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Deputies said Kurtz and Perschbacher are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees the pair are warned not to approach them and to call 911 immediately.
