An 11-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting on Sunday night, the Aurora Police Department said.

The boy was taken to a hospital with multiple gunshot wounds but is expected to survive, police said.

He “certainly had guardian angels watching over him,” police said.

It was the fifth shooting in a 30-hour period in Aurora since Saturday.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. in the 12000 block of East Kansas Drive, near East Mississippi Avenue and South Peoria Street.

The circumstances of what led to the shooting are under investigation, police said.

Police said they are looking for two males, one in a red shirt and another in a white shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
