Law enforcement officials were sent to a home in the 8300 block of Brighton Road in Commerce City’s Derby neighborhood after reports of a shooting shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday.
During a preliminary investigation, investigators learned that Dorrance allegedly drove to the victims home, pulled into the driveway and fired two rounds into the home.

Moments later, the victim exited the home to confront Dorrance when he allegedly fired another round at the victim, but missed, which caused the shooter to flee, ACSO officials said.
No one was injured as a result of the shooting.
Deputies and investigators later identified Dorrance as the shooter and went to his home where they found him barricaded inside. As a result, the sheriff’s office SWAT unit was deployed, ACSO officials said.
Dorrance eventually exited the residence, but refused to comply with the commands from law enforcement, which prompted the deployment of “Mikey,” one of the agency’s K-9 units.

As the K-9 unit closed in on Dorrance, he allegedly struck “Mikey” several times with brass knuckles, but was eventually subdued by “Mikey” and other deputies. He was then taken into custody, ACSO officials said.
Dorrance is currently being held in the Adams County Detention Facility, pending further court proceedings.
