2 arrested following home invasion, robbery in Adams County

Two people have been arrested in connection to a robbery and home invasion early Saturday morning, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office announced.

Deputies said the victims were asleep inside their home in the 8700 block of Franklin Street when they were awoken by sounds of someone trying to steal their car at around 1 a.m.

One of the victims confronted the suspects, who demanded the keys. The victim retreated inside the home but the suspects broke in, using a rock to smash the living room window and climb inside.

The suspects threatened the victim with a large hunting knife and implied they had a gun. They left after forcibly taking the keys from one of the victims, deputies said. The victims were not injured during the altercation.

The suspects left the scene in the stolen Ford Ranger, abandoning the previously stolen Subaru they arrived in.

Deputies spotted the stolen Ford Ranger on Washington Street near 76th Avenue, chasing it to the 4900 block of Washington Street where the suspects lost control and drove into a utility pole.

The suspects fought and struggled with deputies but were eventually subdued, deputies said. The suspects had methamphetamine and other evidence on them when they were captured.

Alix Jo-Ray Montoya, 29, and Brandie Price, 37, have been taken into custody in connection to the home invasion and robbery.

Both suspects face charges of first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery, first-degree criminal trespass, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated motor vehicle theft.

Montoya also faces charges of vehicular eliding causing bodily injury to another, theft from a vehicle, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and criminal mischief.

Montoya, an Englewood resident, and Price, from Coos Bay, Oregon, are being held in the Adams County Detention Facility pending further court proceedings.

The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges may be filed depending on the results of the investigation.
