Officer Jacob Marsh faces a charge of vehicular assault in connection to the April 13 crash. He appeared in court Wednesday morning where a $50,000 bond was set, according to online court records.

According to the probable cause statement, Marsh was driving his unmarked patrol unit in the 4800 block of North Quebec Street in the southbound lanes.

An unknown vehicle was also traveling in the wrong direction in front of Marsh.

Investigators recovered the unmarked patrol unit’s Airbag Restraint Control Module and discovered Marsh was driving 75 mph in a 45 mph zone just 5 seconds before the crash.

The other vehicle involved in the crash was going 51 mph.

The driver, a 50-year-old man, suffered a broken leg that required surgery, according to the probable cause statement.

It is unknown if Marsh suffered any injuries.
