Driver flagged down then beat unconscious in carjacking near Greeley

The Weld County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a suspect stole a Jeep and motorcycle from a driver after brutally assaulting him late Thursday night.

Deputies said the incident happened at around 11 p.m. on U.S. Highway 85 near Weld County Road 66, just north of Greeley.

The driver, a Weld County resident, was going north on the highway when the vehicle behind him started flashing its lights. The driver pulled over, concerned that something was wrong with his trailer he was towing his motorcycle on.

The suspect then assaulted the driver, knocking him unconscious. When the driver woke up, his vehicles were gone.
