According to a release from the Fort Collins Police Department, they received a report of a student who displayed a gun and made “threatening statements” at the middle school.

An investigation by the school resource officers began immediately and confronted the student. They discovered the student was in possession of a BB gun and cited them for interference with staff, faculty or students of an educational institution.

Aurora: police upgrade shooting investigation to homicide

Information regarding the student will not be released because of their age.

“The safety of our students and staff is a matter we take seriously,” said Sgt. Laura Lunsford, the SRO program supervisor. “I’m grateful for the quick response of SROs and partnership with staff to resolve this situation and minimize disruption to the learning environment.”
