One dead, one seriously injured after high-speed crash in Northglenn neighborhood

One person was killed and another was seriously injured early Sunday morning after a single-vehicle crash in a Northglenn neighborhood.

The Northglenn Police Department said the crash happened at 1:45 a.m. near 100th Place and Croke Drive, a residential neighborhood near Northglenn High School.

According to the investigation, a driver in a four-door sedan was speeding while driving east on 100th Place when they lost control and crashed into a retaining wall.

Because of the high rate of speed, the sedan was sent airborne, hitting a telephone pole and a parked car before rolling several times.

Both of the sedan’s occupants — a 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman — were ejected from the vehicle. Neither was wearing a seat belt, police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police are investigating alcohol as a possible contributing factor to the crash.

The Northglenn Police Department Critical Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation into the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact officer Dan Shube at dshube@northglenn.org.

The deceased’s identity and official cause of death will be released by the Office of the Medical Examiner after his family has been notified.
