Resurfacing project to close portion of Colfax Avenue beginning Monday

The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing the eastbound lanes of a 1.75-mile portion of Colfax Avenue in Aurora on Monday.

All but one lane of Colfax Avenue will be closed between Sable Boulevard and Peoria Street on weekdays between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDOT expects the project to be finished by the end of May.

The initial phase of the project will have crews resurface the pavement, curb ramp improvements in compliance with the American Disability Act and improve the intersection of Colfax and Peoria, CDOT said.

A second phase is expected to begin in June where westbound lanes will be resurfaced every night between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., according to CDOT.

CDOT is warning drivers to expect delays during the work periods.
