Reward of $10,000 offered for information regarding church fire in Fruita

Law enforcement officials are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to those responsible for setting a church on fire Monday.

Lower Valley Fire District crews were called to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 417 E. Ottley Ave. in Fruita in the early morning. 

The department requested assistance from the Grand Junction Fire Department upon arrival. Crews eventually contained the fire and no one was injured. 

An investigation is being conducted by the Fruita Police Department, LVFD, Federal Bureau of Investigations and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI’s 24-hour tip line at 1-800-225-5324, the FBI Denver office at 303-629-7171, ATF hotline 1-888-283-3473, the FPD 970-242-6706 or the Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-7867.
