Teen driver found guilty in hit-and-run death of pedestrian in Aurora
An Arapahoe County jury has found 19-year-old Christian Fehr guilty in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Aurora in 2019.
Fehr was found guilty last week of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving death. The jury deliberated for half a day after three days of trial.
Fehr will be sentenced on Aug. 6. He faces four to 12 years in prison, though prison time is not mandatory in this case, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office said.
“We hate to see these crimes,” said District Attorney John Kellner. “This defendant did not mean to kill Mr. Vincente-Pelico, but that is not consolation to the victim’s family.
“Driving is a privilege that comes with responsibilities, and there are consequences when those are flaunted.”

On May 8, 2019, Fehr struck 34-year-old Marvin Vincente-Pelico as he was walking near East Colfax Avenue and North Kingston Street about 12:30 a.m., according to the district attorney’s office.
Fehr, who was 17 at the time, was driving 75 mph in a 35-mph zone when he hit Vincente-Pelico, prosecutors said.
After hitting Vincente-Pelico, Fehr kept driving and called his father. He later drove back to the scene and spoke with police, where he failed roadside sobriety tests and admitted to drinking earlier in the night, according to the police report.
A passerby called 911 after seeing Vincente-Pelico laying in the street. Vicente-Pelico was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorneys Meghan Gallo and Taylor McCreary.
