Weather: Denver could top last year’s precipitation amounts after impending storm system
After a few days of spring and almost summer-like weather across the Mile High City, many Denverites will be putting on rain jackets as isolated showers and possible thunderstorms will continue into Wednesday.
The impending storm that is following a cold front could bring up to an inch of rain by Wednesday. Currently, Denver has received 7.61 inches of precipitation this year, which is 1.13 inches less than all of 2020.
“We could potentially be within a 10th of an inch of last years total by Wednesday,” said Zach Hiris, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service Boulder.
Along with the rain and possible thunderstorms, temperatures will be dropping daily high’s will range between the low 40’s and high 50’s until Thursday.
The likelihood of storms increases Sunday into Monday, and will begin to diminish Tuesday night, Hiris said.
While Denver is projected to get rain, snow is possible at higher elevations.
But the cloudy, cold and wet weather isn’t projected to last too long as the sun and warmer temperatures will return by Wednesday.
