58 Adams County high schoolers awarded over $1 million in scholarships
The Adams County Scholarship Fund awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to 58 high school students this year, the Adams County Commissioners announced.
This is the sixth time the fund has awarded scholarships since it was started by the county commissioners in 2016, in partnership with the Colorado Department of Higher Education’s Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative.
“It’s inspiring to award these scholarships to these hard-working students from all corners of the county,” said Eva Henry, chair of the Board of Commissioners. “We look forward to celebrating their college successes over the next four years as they make Adams County proud.”
The scholarship recipients are first-generation and/or low-income high school seniors who attend schools within Adams County.

The scholarships were funded by the voter-approved 3% sales tax on retail marijuana sales in the county and matched funds from the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative.
“I was so excited to chat with some of these students at the banquet and learn about their future plans,” said County Manager Raymond Gonzales. “Their dedication to their studies is a testament to the amazing teachers and staff at school districts throughout Adams County.”
The individual scholarship amounts range from $10,000 to $20,714.28.
Recipients include 21 students from Adams 12 Five Star Schools, 10 from Adams County School District 14, 10 from Mapleton Public Schools, eight from Westminster Public Schools, six from School District 27J, two from Strasburg School District 31J and one from Bennett School District 29J.
