Inmate found dead in Larimer County Jail cell

Officials are investigating after an inmate was found dead in the Larimer County Jail on Sunday morning, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office said.

The inmate was found unresponsive in his cell about 5 a.m. during routine cell checks, deputies said. Deputies and medical staff attempted to revive the inmate without success.

The inmate was a 59-year-old man, deputies said. His identity and cause and manner of death will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office after an autopsy.

It is unclear how the inmate died. He was the only inmate being held in that cell, deputies said.

No additional information is available.

The sheriff’s office and Eighth Judicial District Attorney’s Office are leading the investigation into the inmate’s death.
