Man arrested in connection to Aurora homicide

A 35-year-old man is in custody in connection to a homicide in Aurora.

Police said Daniel R. Matthews was arrested Thursday in the shooting death of a 22-year-old woman.

22-year-old woman killed in northwest Aurora, 3 persons of interest detained

Officers responded about 1:30 p.m. Monday to the 1400 block of North Kenton Street after reports of a woman lying on the sidewalk, according to a release from the Aurora Police Department.

The woman, later identified as Diana Marie Raese Malone, was pronounced dead on-scene. An autopsy determined she died of a gunshot wound, and the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office ruled her death a homicide.

Matthews is being held in the Arapahoe County Detention Center on suspicion of first-degree murder.
