Child killed after being hit by falling tree

A 4-year-old boy was killed after he was hit by a falling tree on Friday morning.

The three fell on the boy in the 6300 block of South Jay Way around 7:45 a.m., according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. 

He was transported to a local hospital in critical condition where he later died. His 14-year-old sister also injured her leg while attempting to help the boy, the sheriff’s office said.
