Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) slammed President Joe Biden for his immigration policies as immigrants from Texas continue to arrive in New York City.

During an interview with John Catsimatidis on WABC’s Cats at Night Show radio show, Cuomo called on the federal government to step in and assist with handling the migrant surge into the Empire State.

“The federal government is primarily responsible. Immigration is a federal issue. It’s not Mayor Adams’s issue. He should not be paying $1 billion and figuring out where to put them. This should be the federal government that comes in, steps up to the plate, and takes responsibility,” Cuomo said

The former governor also said the state has some responsibility to spread out the immigrants, who are being bused into New York City largely by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R).

“The state of New York government also has responsibility. New York City is a sanctuary city. New York state is a sanctuary state. Why doesn’t the state come in and say, ‘You know what? We’re going to spread this around — upstate, Long Island. Everybody helps out,’?” Cuomo said.

He also denounced moves by Republican governors, including Abbott and Gov. Ron DeSantis (FL), to transport immigrants to Northern cities, calling it “reprehensible.”

Cuomo made headlines recently for telling Democrats to “show, don’t tell” when it comes to social issues. He resigned from office in August 2021 after New York Attorney General Letitia James released a report with allegations that he sexually harassed 11 women while governor. Cuomo has denied any inappropriate touching.
