Aurora crash leaves two dead
Aurora police continue to investigate a crash that left two people dead on Friday evening.
Officers responded to a crash call involving two vehicles around 6 p.m. on Friday near the intersection of South Havana Street and East Exposition Avenue, according to a press release by the Aurora Police Department. Upon arrival, responders found that a red 2017 Dodge Charger and a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee had collided.
The Charger was traveling north on South Havana and hit the Jeep traveling south while it attempted to turn. The impact sent the Jeep around 100 feet into a drainage retention wall. The 43-year-old driver and a 5-year-old passenger were fatally injured in the crash and died at the scene, according to the release.

Two more passengers in the Jeep — eight and ten years old — were injured and transported to a nearby hospital. They are expected to survive.
The 21-year-old man driving the Charger was taken to the hospital for serious injuries. His condition is currently unknown.
Police closed South Havana Street in the region for over four hours for investigation. Investigators believe drug intoxication and speeding may have caused the crash.
These are the 53rd and 54th traffic-related deaths in Aurora this year.
