1 dead, 1 injured in Thornton after vehicle found in water along highway

A Colorado State Patrol investigation is underway in Thornton after a car was found in water along a highway.

Following the crash, one person died and another was transported to the hospital on Monday morning.

Authorities received a call around 2:23 a.m. of an SUV in the water along Highway 44 near McKay Road, according to a State Patrol spokesperson.

Authorities did not yet release any details about the victims.

A portion of Highway 44 shut down from 2:26 a.m. until 5:08 a.m., the State Patrol said.
