1 killed, 1 injured in Westminster apartment shooting

An altercation on Monday evening led to the death of one Westminster man and the injury of another following a shooting at the Hidden Lake Apartments complex.

Officers responded to a shooting report at the complex at 3800 West 68th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, according to a press release by the Westminster Police Department. Responders found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both of the men were transported to a nearby hospital. One later died from his injuries, according to the release.

Initial investigations show that the two were neighbors at the complex and began arguing, according to police. The two then fired at each other.

The identity of the deceased man will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office pending family notifications and an autopsy. The police department will continue to investigate the shooting.

The shooting marks the sixth Denver metro incident since Sunday, with four shootings occurring throughout New Year’s Eve and one in Commerce City on Monday morning.
