DA files murder charges against Federal Heights stabbing suspect

The 17th District Attorney’s Office filed first-degree murder charges against a suspect in a Federal Heights stabbing that left one woman dead.

The man is still missing and police believe he may be heading for the Mexico border.

Officers are still searching for Adrian Carracedo-Vega, 35, in connection to a stabbing that occurred on Dec. 30. Police issued a nationwide warrant and said Carracedo-Vega may be heading to Texas or attempting to cross the border on Tuesday. His mode of transportation is unknown.

Federal Heights police officers responded to a call around 3:30 p.m., Dec. 30 outside of the Tuscan Heights Apartments, at 1700 W. 85th Ave. Callers reported that they found a woman stabbed outside.

Police, Fire and EMS personnel on the scene administered emergency treatment to the victim, Sachely Diaz, 20. She was transported to North Suburban Hospital where she later died from her injuries, Federal Heights police said.

The incident is under investigation by the Federal Heights Police Department, along with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Adams County Coroner’s Office and the Adams County District Attorney’s Office. The official charges are first-degree murder.
