Colorado Springs police identify teen as victim killed in double shooting at park

The Colorado Springs Police have identified a 17-year-old killed in a double shooting at High Meadows Park near Sand Creek High School on Feb. 28.

The El Paso County Coroner identified the teen on Feb. 29. Police say the victim, whose name has not been released to the public in accordance with a state privacy law, was found by officers with another injured teen at a business in the area of North Carefree Avenue and North Powers Boulevard.

Police say the shots fired call from High Meadows Park was related to the two juveniles’ gunshot wounds. Both were transported to the hospital, where the 17-year-old later died. The other minor was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

According to the CSPD release, the shootings is not believed to be a “random act of violence.” No suspect is currently in custody.
