Denver Police respond to shooting in popular south Broadway corridor

Denver police early Monday responded to a shooting along the south Broadway corridor, an area which recently gained notoriety for its open drug use and homeless population.

The shooting happened at the corner of N. Broadway and E. Ellsworth Ave.

The Denver Police Department reported the shooting on social media platform X around 2 a.m. Monday.

A man sustained injuries and his conditions remain unknown, police said.

Police are now searching for suspect information and is conducting an active investigation.

East Ellsworth between Lincoln and Broadway was closed early Monday during the investigation, Denver Gazette news partner 9News reported.

The area recently came under light for its open drug use and increased homeless population.
