Colorado is in for an epic 2045 total solar eclipse

DENVER — Millions of Americans watched Monday as the moon moved in front of the sun, blocking all daylight for as much as four minutes in some areas.

Monday’s 2024 total solar eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. It was the biggest celestial extravaganza in the U.S. since 2017.

The United States won’t see another coast-to-coast total solar eclipse like this one until 2045.

When is the next coast-to-coast U.S. total solar eclipse?

The United States will experience a coast-to-coast total solar eclipse on Aug. 12, 2045. The path of totality will stretch from California to Florida.

The path of totality of the 2045 total solar eclipse will cross California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

The states not in the direct path of totality will see a strong partial solar eclipse in 2045.

As well as those states, the path of totality in 2045 will also cross The Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Trinidad and Tobago, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana, and Brazil.
