New Colorado Springs amphitheater’s lineup keeps growing: Grammy Award-winning rock musician, country star added
Grammy Award-winning singer songwriter John Fogerty and country pop star Walker Hayes will bring their tours to town this summer.
Longtime rocker Fogerty’s “Celebration Tour” will perform Aug. 27 at Sunset Amphitheater. Blues rock band George Thorogood & the Destroyers and rock band Hearty Har will open.

Fogerty co-founded Creedence Clearwater Revival in the late ’50s, though the band was originally named Blue Velvets, and went on to record hits like “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Green River” and “Born on the Bayou.” In 1973 he ventured out on his own with his band The Blue Ridge Rangers.

Hayes hit it big with his 2021 single, “Fancy Like,’ which clung to the charts for more than six months. His third album, “Country Stuff the Album,” was released in 2022. Other hits include “You Broke Up With Me,” “AA,” “Y’all Life” and “Good With Me”

Rock bands Foreigner and Loverboy joined the ever expanding Sunset Amphitheater’s lineup last week. The 8,000-seat, open-air venue on the city’s north side will open Aug. 9 with three consecutive shows by pop rock band OneRepublic. The Aug. 9-10 shows are sold out.

The lineup also features comedian Jim Gaffigan Sept. 13, rock band Steve Miller Band Sept. 27 and Americana musicians Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Aug. 31.
New shows are released every week. About 20 shows are expected to flesh out the amphitheater’s inaugural season.
