Denver considers $4M church purchase to house immigrants
The Denver City Council will consider purchasing two properties owned by the Denver Community Church for $4 million at its meeting Monday.
The properties are at 333 and 375 S. Zuni St. and would be part of the city’s response to the influx of immigrants.
The council will also consider roughly $24 million in grants and contracts dedicated to improving infrastructure in council districts 3, 4 and 7.
Other business includes approving several mayoral appointments, including a new executive director for the Department of Community Planning and Development. This action, appearing before the council as a bill rather than a resolution, must go before the council twice before it can be published.
Others, all in the form of resolutions, deal with appointees to various boards and departments throughout the city, including the Cherry Creek business improvement district, Community Corrections Board and the Denver African American Commission, among others. In total, the council will consider approving the appointment of 10 people.
