Aurora man shot and killed Friday morning, police say

Aurora police responded to a shooting Friday morning that resulted in a man’s death.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of East Colfax Avenue and Peoria Street — directly outside of General’s Park and a block from UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital — around 3:30 a.m., according to a press release from the Aurora Police Department.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving measures before the man was transported to the nearby hospital. He later died from his injuries, the department said.

Investigators noted that while there is no suspect information as of Friday, they believe the shooting was targeted.

The Adam’s County Coroner’s Office will identify the victim following notification of the victim’s family, and an autopsy.

The shooting marks the second in Aurora this week. On Wednesday, two teens were shot near a playground northeast of South Peoria Street and East Mississippi Avenue. Two other teens were arrested in connection to the incident on Friday.
