The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 were shut down Friday morning due to a trailer fire, snarling traffic back multiple miles.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) posted at 10:51 a.m., on social media that the fire was between Exit 243 (Hidden Valley) and Exit 244 (US 6) in the Floyd Hill area.

CDOT cameras showed the truck hauling the trailer was able to pull away, and it also showed that the fire had spread to grass along the interstate.
Colorado State Patrol said traffic was stopped at Idaho Springs at one point, but currently the trailer fire has been moved to the right side of the highway and only one lane open.
All lanes officially reopened at 1:40 p.m., according to CDOT.
A bit further down I-70, another fire has caused more eastbound lanes to close Friday afternoon.
The right lane of eastbound I-70 near De Beque Canyon — just east of Grand Junction — was also closed due to a fire around 12 p.m., according to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.
The left lane will remain open during the incident, but drivers should expect slow traffic going through the area, the department noted.
