Shelter-in-place order lifted in Highlands Ranch neighborhood
Two suspects were arrested in a Highlands Ranch neighborhood following a shelter-in-place order that lasted nearly five hours, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s office.
Around 7:30 a.m., Douglas County Sheriff’s were serving a call for a warrant on behalf of another agency and officials called for the shelter-in-place for a quarter-mile radius in the West Timbervale Trail area.
The subject of warrant was contained to one house, the sheriff’s office said.
It remains unclear what the warrant was for, and whether the suspect is armed. Investigators declined to provide details.
At 11 a.m., a Douglas County Sheriff’s spokesperson told The Denver Gazette the shelter-in-place order remained active, but added that “the community is safe.”
Television news reports showed the sheriff’s office using a battering device on a military-style vehicle.
At 12:15 p.m., authorities said they arrested two suspects.
