Denver weather: 3 heat advisories to start Friday after very warm Thursday

Denver is forecast for another day of hot temperatures to the mid-90s Thursday as the heat rises and heat advisories begin Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. 

Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 96 degrees today. A calm wind from the northeast will roll through the area between 5 and 9 mph.

“Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will develop over the mountains this afternoon,” the NWS said. “Most of the showers will only produce light rainfall. There is a slight chance of a few storms with gusty winds over the far northeast corner of Colorado in the late afternoon and evening.”

Looking ahead to Thursday night, partly cloudy skies are in the forecast alongside a low of 66 degrees.

Temperatures are anticipated to surpass 100 degrees Friday and continue climbing into the low 100s through the weekend. 

The NWS has three heat advisories in place effective from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday for portions of northern Douglas County, eastern Jefferson County, Denver and Broomfield counties, western Adams and Arapahoe counties, eastern Boulder County, eastern Larimer County and western and northern Weld County.

High temperatures are to range between 98-103 degrees each day.

“Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors,” the NWS said.

Sunday: Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 103 degrees.

Monday: There’s a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high of 98 degrees.
