Female hiker evacuated via helicopter from trail in Rocky Mountain National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park park rangers were notified via a satellite communication device on Monday that an 80-year-old female hiker was found unresponsive on the Lawn Lake Trail by other hikers, the Park service said in a release Monday night.
The female hiker was found roughly five miles from the trailhead, the Park said.
The Park said the hikers who found the woman provided life-saving care to the individual by performing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) until further assistance from Rocky Mountain National Park Search and Rescue Team members arrived on the scene.
The woman was extricated via a hoist operation from a Colorado Army National Guard helicopter from Buckley Space Force Base the trail Park rangers were assisted by to extricate the woman via a hoist operation. Rocky Mountain Rescue Group assisted with helicopter hoist operations.
The woman was transferred to Med Evac air ambulance at Upper Beaver Meadows and flown to further emergency care.
