Second wildfire sparks just 9 miles from 1,825-acre fire on Colorado Front Range
Another wildfire has sparked in Colorado, about nine miles from the 1,825-acre Alexander Mountain Fire.
The new fire, which sparked early afternoon on Tuesday, has been dubbed the Stone Canyon Fire. It’s burning north of Lyons and has scorched around 85 acres already.
A mandatory evacuation area includes Blue Mountain and Spring Valley. Additional specifics on the evacuation area can be found here, which also includes information on road closures in the area.
A red flag warning is currently in effect for both Larimer and Boulder counties, which is where Alexander Mountain and Stone Canyon fires are burning, respectively. At last report, both fires were expected to experience more growth and the cause of each fire remains unknown.
