Cale Makar ties the knot with fiancée Tracy Evans in stunning wedding ceremony

Known for his penalty-killing skills, Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar made a power play over the weekend, marrying longtime sweetheart Tracy Evans on Saturday.

Internet sleuths uncovered that Makar proposed to Evans approximately a year ago, and an Instagram post from a wedding planner shows the smitten couple posing in a collection of beautiful engagement photos:

Who is Cale Makar’s fiancée?

Cale Makar’s fiancée is Tracy Evans, 26, a Canadian substitute teacher from Makar’s hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, according to a social media post from UCHealth, a sponsor of the Avalanche.

“Sometimes hockey talk will come up in the classroom, but (the students) have no idea we’re going to get married this summer,” Evans said.

Evans seems to have a shared interest in sports, teaching Physical Education. She was also a standout basketball player at Bowness High School in Calgary.

Featured Local Savings

Social media posts over the weekend, including several from the X account “@avsbetterhalves”, an account which highlights Avalanche players and their significant others, depict the Makars’ wedding guests decked out in western wear in a mountain locale.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether the scenic backdrop was in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, or that of Alberta.

Since joining the Avalanche in 2019, the 25-year-old Makar has established himself as one of the NHL’s best defensemen, having won the Calder, Norris and Conn Smythe trophies as well as the Stanley Cup. Since his rookie debut, he’s been lauded for his skating and on-ice moves and fluidity.

On Saturday, he showed off some of his moves, this time on the dance floor.

Ahead of the Avalanche’s 2024-25 campaign, Cale Makar has wrapped up another one of his life goals.
