Eyewitness video shows alleged Boulder arson suspects; authorities seek information

Boulder sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying arson suspects who they say were seen in a July 31 eyewitness video.

The video, provided Friday by the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, shows people near Panorama Point with fireworks ignited and flames visible.

The Panorama Point fire was sparked around 9:42 p.m. on Flagstaff Road, just west of the city of Boulder, deputies said. The fire was extinguished a short time later.

Video from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office seek information on Panorama fire arson suspects seen in the video.

“We will not tolerate this blatant disregard for the life safety of the residents of Boulder County,” Boulder County Sheriff Curtis Johnson said in a news release Friday. “We were under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, which prohibits the use of fireworks, with multiple wildfires burning, yet they still recklessly set off fireworks in a grassy and wooded area, which immediately caught fire. It’s only because firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control that a tragedy didn’t take place.”

Investigators said they’re also interested in speaking with 26-year-old Alan Khoshaba of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, who they said may have information relevant to the investigation.

Anyone with information on Khoshaba’s whereabouts or the people seen in the video is urged to contact the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office at 303-441-4444 or via email at bcsotips@bouldercounty.gov.
