SUV and electric scooter crash causes road closures in southeast Colorado Springs

An SUV and electric scooter crashed early Saturday morning, according to a Colorado Springs Police Department blotter entry.

Police arrive to the scene at the intersection of Chelton Road and Fountain Boulevard a few minutes before 6 a.m. They discovered someone had been driving a small electric scooter heading southbound on Chelton Road and someone driving an SUV was heading northbound. The driver of the SUV made a left turn, resulting in a collision of the two vehicles.

The scooter driver has been transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the SUV remained on the scene, according to police.

The intersection has been closed for most of the morning.
