Quirky snowplow fleet names introduced from the City of Boulder for 2024
“CTRL-SALT-DELETE” and “Say it Ain’t Snow!” will soon be plowing the streets of Boulder all winter season long.
The City of Boulder announced Monday the 17 names of the city’s snowplow fleet for winter 2024-25, and for the fourth year in a row, Boulder students got to name the city’s snowplow fleet.
The 17 winning names were selected to be featured on city snowplows, including a “winged” snowplow to help move more snow away from streets in a single pass, the City said.
Name submissions featuring a winged theme were encouraged this year to help celebrate this addition to the city’s snow response equipment.
Here is the full list of winning names:
• CTRL-SALT-DELETE
• Say it Ain’t Snow!
• Mac n’ Freeze
• Not Snow Fast
• Plowzer
• Plower Power
• Mochi Plow
• Cold Wheels
• Snow Ghost
• Orange Slush
• Snowflake
• Snow White
• Darth Vader
• No Snower
• Megasnowgone
• Corazon
• Plowdactyl (winged snowplow)
“This year, we expanded the contest to include our new piece of winged equipment, and received such creative names in the process,” City of Boulder Business Services Supervisor Rene Lopez said.

“There were so many wonderful name entries, and I’d like to sincerely thank all the students who participated. Our hope with this is to help younger community members feel more connected to core city services.”
PreK-12th grade students in Boulder were invited to craft and submit their favorite names for the city’s snowplows. Those who submitted winning names were given the opportunity to take a photo with the snowplow they named.
