Expect weekday closures on Quebec Street as Denver installs sidewalks
Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) will close sections of Quebec Street over the next few months as they complete sidewalk installations and other upgrades.
Starting Monday, Quebec Street between 13th and Colfax avenues will be closed, and traffic will be routed north and southbound traffic around the closure via Monaco Street Parkway and Syracuse Street, according to an advisory from DOTI.
Sidewalks are being installed along Quebec Street between 12th Avenue and Montview Boulevard, filling gaps in the sidewalk network, and upgrading the traffic signal at Quebec Street and 17th Avenue as part of the Quebec Street Mobility and Pedestrian Safety Improvement Project.
The sidewalks are being installed with funding from the Elevate Denver Bond.
Closure schedule
Full closures of Quebec Street on weekdays:
- 13th Avenue to Colfax Avenue – Dec. 2 to Dec. 20
- Colfax Avenue to 17th Avenue – Jan. 2 to Feb. 17
- 17th Avenue to Montview Avenue – Feb. 18 to April 3
For the safety of work crews and the traveling public, DOTI will implement full closures of Quebec Street in two-to-three block segments during the week when crews are working and will reopen the segments on weekends.
Weekday closures will decrease the amount of time required to finish the project without compromising the safety of work crews, a DOTI statement said.
The original schedule had the sidewalks on Quebec being completed in September. Weather permitting, the city now expects them to be done be done in early spring.
