Fatal Westminster crash closes Huron Street
The Westminster Police Department responded to a fatal crash Saturday afternoon.
Officers responded to the crash, at the intersection of West 122nd Avenue and Huron Street, just a few blocks from Interstate 25, before noon, according to a press release from the department.
Preliminary investigations found that a vehicle traveling northbound on Huron Street crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle heading southbound, police said. The man driving the northbound vehicle was killed following the crash. The driver of the southbound vehicle was not injured.
Both northbound and southbound lanes of Huron Street were closed following the crash.
The identity of the deceased man will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office following investigations.
While police have yet to determine the cause of the crash, the area received around five inches of snow between Friday evening and 11 a.m. Saturday, according to the National Weather Service Boulder.
Police said that speeding and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the incident.
