Where good news shines

MSU Denver’s Mikylah Espinosa’s big week was recognized.

A Roadrunners junior guard from Thornton, Espinosa was named RMAC offensive player of the week Monday. MSU Denver swept Colorado Christian and UCCS.

Espinosa hit the game-winning shot in a 68-66 win over Colorado Christian, a jumper with 7 seconds left in regulation. Two nights later, she scored a layup with 1 second remaining to give the Roadrunners a 69-68 win. Espinosa averaged 25 points over the two games.

She also had 11 rebounds, 11 steals and four assists while shooting 60%.

New Mexico Highlands freshman Kapiolani Anitielu was named defensive player of the week after helping Highlands force 45 turnovers across two wins.
